Our team; the “Squamish United FC U18” (U18 means under 18 years old at December 31, 2014) is a team of twelve Squamish and four Pemberton girls who play rep soccer. Most of our team members have been playing soccer in Squamish since they were five and have a deep love of the game.
Our team is comprised of grade eleven and twelve students with most in their final year of school and junior soccer. When we were U12 players, our first year of rep soccer, our coach promised us that if we were to win the highest league, the gold league, we would go to England. The only condition was that the entire team must go or none could. It took us seven long years of both failures and successes, but we have finally done it. In December 2014, we won our final game and were named league champions.
After three months of fundraising, we are leaving for England on March 29th and will be returning home on April 7th.
