On Tuesday, we visited the Climbers Against Cancer facility and meet the charity's owner, John Ellison. John is longtime friend with our coach and three years ago, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Given only five years to live, John decided he wanted to make a difference with the time he was given and decided to start a charity that raises money for cancer research. With this, he also wanted to spread awareness about the disease as it affects everyone. To raise money, John sells t-shirts, toques, hoodies and underwear, all the proceeds going to cancer research. John used his connections with the climbing community all around the world to start his charity and since the initial, Climbers Against Cancer has skyrocketed! So on Tuesday, we decided as a team to help John and fold and pack t-shirts for him.
Also on Tuesday we also played our first game. We played the Blackburn Rovers Women's team, a professional soccer team, and though it was a tough game (we lost 15-0), we played hard and considering we played a team in the Women's Premier League, we were not too upset about the score.
