Day 9: Soccer Museum and FINAL DAY!

Our final day in England was definitely a successful one! We went to the "National Football Museum" in Manchester were learned some very interesting facts such as that at one point, girls playing soccer was illegal! We finished off our final day by walking around Manchester more (some of us doing a little more shopping) and then going back to the Hostel to pack. We also went to our favourite restaurant "Wagamama's" for out final meal, in celebration of our wonderful trip!

Day 8: Game #2

On our eighth day in England we were able to play the Great Harwood Youth Ladies team, a team of girls from age 14 to 19. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we had a great time playing against the English girls as well as meeting and talking with them. The final score was 9-1 for Squamish, a great way to finish off the season and for some of the girls, 13 years of youth soccer. We finished the day by going to a local cricket club were we were given sandwiches tea and cakes and then went to a near by field to play some more, less intense, soccer. We were also able to meet local legend and Blackburn Rovers played, David Dunn, who is in a couple of the photos below.

Day 7: Premier League Game

On our seventh day in England, we went to Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium were 11 of our group of 20 were able to watch Manchester United play Aston Villa. We arrived at noon on Saturday and took in the stadium and all the surrounding atmosphere. After taking pictures and going into the official Manchester United store, over half of us were able to get tickets to go into the stadium and watch the game. Truly inspiring to watch professional soccer players and also witness what the UK soccer fans are like! (i.e. VERY LOUD!!) The game finished at Manchester United 3 and Aston Villa 1.

Day 6: Sightseeing trip to the Lake District

On Friday we spent the day in the English Lake District. We traveled for two hours from Manchester to the Lake District and then went to two three villages: Windermere, Keswick and Ambleside. We did some shopping, swan watching and sightseeing and saw some of England's beautiful countryside. We also had lunch in a 500 year old pub called "The Kirkstone Pass Inn". A wonderful day of bus rides and village walking!
